Accessibility for pilgrims and the local citizens can be understood in many different ways, the pathways, the street crossings, entrances to restaurants and supermarkets, and also such a simple thing as a bench can be determined to be accessible or inaccessible. Accessibility and mobility in an urban environment can be explained as the design and layout of buildings and roads in an urban area. On our walk on the 10th of October, 2022, we decided to look at street furniture (bus stops, benches, garbage bins, etc.). The location of street furniture should be such, that it can be accessed by all without causing or creating any problems.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Benches<\/strong><\/h3>\n

According to a Design Manual published by the United Nations, the seat should have a height of around 45 cm, while the backrest should have a height of around 70 cm. Walking around Chantada, we came to the conclusion that all the benches did not meet these requirements, as they were either too low and designed to fit the design of the town or too high, making the benches less accessible.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other street furniture<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As for the other furniture we noticed around the area, trash bins were mostly accessible, we also found a hand sanitiser dispenser, nevertheless, it was inaccessible and could be used only by using a foot pump to dispense any of the product.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La ubicaci\u00f3n del mobiliario urbano debe ser tal, que todos puedan acceder a \u00e9l sin causar o crear ning\u00fan problema.<\/p>\n

Bancos<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seg\u00fan un Manual de Dise\u00f1o publicado por las Naciones Unidas, el asiento debe tener una altura de unos 45 cm, mientras que el respaldo debe tener una altura de unos 70 cm. Paseando por Chantada, llegamos a la conclusi\u00f3n de que no todos los bancos cumpl\u00edan con estos requisitos, ya que eran demasiado bajos y estaban dise\u00f1ados para adaptarse al dise\u00f1o de la ciudad o demasiado altos, lo que hac\u00eda que los bancos fueran menos accesibles.<\/p>\n

Otro mobiliario urbano<\/strong><\/p>\n

En cuanto a los otros muebles que notamos en el \u00e1rea, los contenedores de basura eran en su mayor\u00eda accesibles, tambi\u00e9n encontramos un dispensador de desinfectante para manos, sin embargo, era inaccesible y solo pod\u00eda usarse usando una bomba de pie para dispensar cualquier producto.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
