I’m Aiste from Lithuania and I came to Galicia<\/strong> (Spain) to volunteer in the XacobeAndo<\/em> project that aims to positively impact the community of Galicia and the pilgrims who carry out the different routes of the Camino de Santiago<\/em>. Our main tasks are to highlight the importance of a sustainable environment, health and wellbeing; enhance creativity and explore the cultural heritage of Spain and other countries that volunteers come from.<\/p>\n

From 1st of July to 31st October 2022, Xacobeando is hosting 80 volunteers (that come from Estonia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain) who are here to work in different locations in the 7 main routes of the Camino de Santiago with a duration of two months per group.<\/p>\n

Galicia, located in the far west of Spain and surrounded by both the Atlantic Ocean and the Cantabrian Sea is an area famous for its landscapes of extensive green forests, green wooded valleys, wild beaches and lighthouses and I really love it there! <3<\/p>\n

My designated location is Lal\u00edn <\/strong>– a municipality in Galicia, the north of the province of Pontevedra.\u00a0 The route that I will be working is called The Silver Way<\/strong>. The Silver route is also known as Via de la Plata<\/em>, Camino de la Plata<\/em> or Ruta de la Plata<\/em>, is the route on the Camino de Santiago that crosses Spain from the south to Compostela. La Ruta de la Plata is the longest of the Caminos de Santiago and (unfortunately) is not very popular. In recent years, only 2%<\/strong> (!) of pilgrims have chosen the Via de la Plata for their pilgrimage to Santiago. I am not gonna lie, I expected to be in a location full of pilgrims where I could talk to them and get inspired from their experience, however I take it as a challenge and I want to make Lal\u00edn and it’s Camino way more valuable and attractive to tourists.<\/p>\n

I look forward to the experiences that await me and I am ready to face all the challenges that come along the way.<\/p>\n

Soy Aiste de Lituania y vine a Galicia (Espa\u00f1a) para ser voluntaria en el proyecto XacobeAndo que pretende impactar positivamente a la comunidad de Galicia y a los peregrinos que realizan las diferentes rutas del Camino de Santiago. Nuestras principales tareas son resaltar la importancia de un medio ambiente sostenible, la salud y el bienestar; potenciar la creatividad y explorar el patrimonio cultural de Espa\u00f1a y otros pa\u00edses de los que proceden los voluntarios.<\/p>\n

Del 1 de julio al 31 de octubre de 2022, Xacobeando acoge a 80 voluntarios (que vienen de Estonia, Grecia, Italia, Letonia, Lituania, Portugal, Eslovaquia y Espa\u00f1a) que est\u00e1n aqu\u00ed para trabajar en diferentes lugares de las 7 rutas principales del Camino. de Santiago con una duraci\u00f3n de dos meses por grupo.<\/p>\n

Galicia, situada en el extremo oeste de Espa\u00f1a y rodeada tanto por el oc\u00e9ano Atl\u00e1ntico como por el mar Cant\u00e1brico, es una zona famosa por sus paisajes de extensos bosques verdes, verdes valles arbolados, playas salvajes y faros, \u00a1y me encanta!<\/p>\n

Mi ubicaci\u00f3n designada es Lal\u00edn, un municipio, al norte de la provincia de Pontevedra. La ruta que estar\u00e9 trabajando se llama La V\u00eda de la Plata. La ruta de la Plata tambi\u00e9n conocida como V\u00eda de la Plata, Camino de la Plata, es la ruta del Camino de Santiago que atraviesa Espa\u00f1a desde el sur hasta Compostela. La Ruta de la Plata es la m\u00e1s larga de los Caminos de Santiago y (por desgracia) no es muy popular. En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, s\u00f3lo el 2% (\u00a1!) de los peregrinos ha elegido la V\u00eda de la Plata para su peregrinaje a Santiago. No voy a mentir, esperaba estar en un lugar lleno de peregrinos donde poder hablar con ellos e inspirarme de su experiencia, sin embargo lo tomo como un desaf\u00edo y quiero hacer que Lal\u00edn y su Camino sean mucho m\u00e1s valiosos y atractivos. a los turistas.<\/p>\n

Espero con ansias las experiencias que me esperan y estoy lista para enfrentar todos los desaf\u00edos que se presenten en el camino.<\/p>\n
