?? Together with my Slovak friend Nikoleta, we had the opportunity to meet with two pilgrims, Betka with her father Jozef from Slovakia<\/strong>, actually from the very same village I come from. They arrived to Santiago day ago, after finishing the camino together\u00a0 and by lucky coincidence, I was in the city at the same time!<\/p>\n

We are meeting them in a cafeteria near the station and both are in very cheerful mood, enjoying the rest and after a day spent in Santiago, they made another tour that day, so they are coming by train from the one day trip. We order our coffee (and I want ice cream as well), some of us Estrella Galicia, which is the best local beer, and discuss their experiences in very friendly athmosphere.<\/p>\n

They bought the “preukaz Sv\u00e4tojakubsk\u00e9ho p\u00fatnika”, the pilgrim pass in the\u00a0 St. Elisabeth Cathedral in Ko\u0161ice<\/strong>, so let\u00b4s say that their adventure started in our homeland. After they flew to Porto<\/strong>, they began to walk the Portuguese way<\/strong>. For 12 days they walked in total 280 km and they laughed when they recieved the certificate, because they expected to walk lower number of kilometers.<\/p>\n

“I got to know myself on the way,”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

says Betka and share with us, that at the time, the Portuguese way was very crowded, probably because of the upcoming St. James\u00b4s days at Santiago. There were hundreds of people waiting for the albuergues and sometimes they had to find a hostel, because there was not always enough space in the albuerges. But they always offered another option, and as they say, the staff treated them mostly very well, so the camino was\u00a0 prepared for situations like this. As well they praise the amount of restaurants and tavernas, where pilgrims can rest and enjoy breakfast or menu del d\u00eda.<\/p>\n

“But I do not have any negative experience about the camino, maybe only “personal negative”,” says Betka laughing. “When you spend 24 hours, 12 days in a row with just one person, you start to argue over little things, and share your worries, the other person see your “tired and stressed side”. I would recommend this experience for all the young couples, before getting married!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

They appreciate how clean was all the route, probably the pilgrims got used to not throw away a trash and how people cared about environment.\u00a0 Near the coast line they enjoyed amazing views and shared with us lot of pictures from all of the days and before we say goodbye, Betka confesses that she would like to repeat the experience again in the future.<\/p>\n

??\u00a0Junto con mi amiga eslovaca Nikoleta, tuvimos la oportunidad de encontrarnos con dos peregrinos, Betka con su padre Jozef de Eslovaquia, en realidad del mismo pueblo de donde vengo. Llegaron a Santiago hace un d\u00eda, despu\u00e9s de terminar el camino juntos y por una afortunada coincidencia, \u00a1yo estaba en la ciudad a la misma hora!<\/p>\n

Nos reunimos con ellos en una cafeter\u00eda cerca de la estaci\u00f3n y ambos estaban \u00a0muy alegres, disfrutando del descanso, despu\u00e9s de un d\u00eda en Santiago, despu\u00e9s de haber pasado un d\u00eda en tren de otro viaje. Pedimos nuestro caf\u00e9 ( yo tambi\u00e9n quiero helado), algunos tomaron Estrella Galicia, que es la mejor cerveza local, y comentamos sus experiencias en un ambiente muy agradable.<\/p>\n

Compraron el \u201cpreukaz Sv\u00e4tojakubsk\u00e9ho p\u00fatnika\u201d, el pase de peregrino en la Catedral de Santa Isabel en Ko\u0161ice, as\u00ed que digamos que su aventura comenz\u00f3 en nuestra tierra natal. Despu\u00e9s de volar a Oporto, comenzaron a caminar por el camino portugu\u00e9s. Durante 12 d\u00edas caminaron un total de 280 km y se rieron cuando recibieron el certificado, porque esperaban caminar menos kil\u00f3metros.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe conoc\u00ed a m\u00ed misma en el camino\u201d,<\/em> dice Betka y comparte con nosotros, que en ese momento, el camino portugu\u00e9s estaba muy concurrido, probablemente debido a las pr\u00f3ximas fiestas del Apostol. Hab\u00eda cientos de personas esperando a los albergues y a veces ten\u00edan que buscar otro alojamiento, porque no siempre hab\u00eda espacio suficiente en los albergues. Pero siempre ofrec\u00edan otra opci\u00f3n, y como dicen, el personal en su mayor\u00eda los trat\u00f3 muy bien, por lo que el camino estaba preparado para situaciones como esta. Tambi\u00e9n alaban la cantidad de restaurantes y tabernas, donde los peregrinos pueden descansar y disfrutar del desayuno o del men\u00fa del d\u00eda.<\/p>\n

\u201cPero no tengo ninguna experiencia negativa sobre el camino, tal vez solo \u201cuna personal\u201d, dice Betka riendo. \u201cCuando pasas 24 horas, 12 d\u00edas seguidos con una sola persona, empiezas a discutir por peque\u00f1as cosas y compartes tus preocupaciones y la otra persona ve tu \u201clado cansado y estresado\u201d. \u00a1Recomendar\u00eda esta experiencia a todas las parejas j\u00f3venes, antes de casarse!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Aprecian lo limpio que encontraron todo el camino, probablemente los peregrinos se acostumbraron a no tirar basura y la gente se preocupaba por el medio ambiente. Cerca de la costa disfrutaron de unas vistas incre\u00edbles y compartieron con nosotros muchas fotos de todos los d\u00edas y antes de despedirnos, Betka confiesa que le gustar\u00eda repetir la experiencia en el futuro.<\/p>\n
