??\u00a0The Camino de Finisterre, in Galician called Fisterra, is an official Camino de Santiago. Nevertheless, this Camino differs from all other Caminos. It is the shortest Camino, but most remarkable and it\u2019s the only Camino that does not end in Santiago de Compostela. Actually, it starts in Santiago and ends in Finisterre. For many pilgrims, Finisterre is the real end point of their Camino, where they celebrate their rebirth by watching the sunset and burning their clothes as a ritual.<\/p>\n
The name Finisterre is associated with the end of the world. You wonder why? I did as well \ud83d\ude42 It actually comes from the Latin Finis Terrea, which means \u2018the end of the world\u2019. What is more,\u00a0 the Romans gave this name to Finisterre, as the village is one of the most Western points – they saw the rocky place as the end of the world. Of course, now we know that Finisterre is not the most western point of Spain. However, the tradition of walking towards Fisterra originated before the onset of the pilgrimage to Santiago, when it was believed that this place was the western end of the then-known world, until well back into the Middle Ages.<\/p>\n
I really really recommend visiting Finisterre as it is a really beautiful and symbolic place. It has beautiful beaches, tasty seafood, little cozy streets to explore, and of course… let’s not forget about the lighthouse! What a great spot for a sunset view.<\/p>\n

El nombre Finisterre est\u00e1 asociado al fin del mundo. \u00bfTe preguntas por qu\u00e9? Yo tambi\u00e9n lo hice ? De hecho, proviene del lat\u00edn Finis Terrea, que significa “el fin del mundo”. Es m\u00e1s, los romanos dieron este nombre a Finisterre, ya que el pueblo es uno de los puntos m\u00e1s occidentales, vieron el roquedo como el fin del mundo. Eso s\u00ed, ahora sabemos que Finisterre no es el punto m\u00e1s occidental de Espa\u00f1a. Sin embargo, la tradici\u00f3n de caminar hacia Fisterra se origin\u00f3 antes del inicio de la peregrinaci\u00f3n a Santiago, cuando se cre\u00eda que este lugar era el extremo occidental del mundo entonces conocido, hasta bien entrada la Edad Media.<\/p>\n
Realmente recomiendo visitar Finisterre ya que es un lugar realmente hermoso y simb\u00f3lico. Tiene hermosas playas, sabrosos mariscos, peque\u00f1as calles acogedoras para explorar y, por supuesto, \u00a1no nos olvidemos del faro!
