As they say in Galicia, we were in the land of witches, and we did not know if the rain would let us visit Las M\u00e9dulas, a point of great historical and scenic value within the Camino de Invierno. Luckily, we took advantage of the good weather that day and headed to Las M\u00e9dulas to appreciate the beauty that everyone was talking about.<\/p>\n

This man-made landscape consists of an ancient gold mining site that was carved and used by the Roman Empire for centuries, which is why it became an area of Cultural Interest in 1996.<\/p>\n

Como dicen en Galicia, est\u00e1bamos en tierra de meigas, y no sab\u00edamos si la lluvia nos dejar\u00eda visitar Las M\u00e9dulas, un punto de gran valor hist\u00f3rico y paisaj\u00edstico dentro del Camino de Invierno. Por suerte, aprovechamos el buen tiempo de ese d\u00eda y nos dirigimos a Las M\u00e9dulas para apreciar la belleza de la que todo el mundo hablaba.\u00a0Este paisaje artificial consiste en una antigua explotaci\u00f3n aur\u00edfera que fue labrada y utilizada por el Imperio Romano durante siglos, por lo que se convirti\u00f3 en Bien de Inter\u00e9s Cultural en 1996.<\/p>\n

Let’s Start Walking<\/h2>\n

At the entrance, we found the Visitor Reception Center where we were told the best route to live the experience to the fullest. As we were getting into the landscape we realized that it is a place perfectly adapted to both pilgrims and tourists. In the small village through which we had to pass before seeing Las M\u00e9dulas we could find restaurants as well as stores with local and handicraft products.<\/p>\n

Empecemos a caminar<\/strong><\/p>\n

A la entrada encontramos el Centro de Recepci\u00f3n de Visitantes donde nos indicaron la mejor ruta para vivir la experiencia al m\u00e1ximo. A medida que nos adentramos en el paisaje nos damos cuenta de que es un lugar perfectamente adaptado tanto a peregrinos como a turistas. En el peque\u00f1o pueblo por el que tuvimos que pasar antes de ver Las M\u00e9dulas pudimos encontrar restaurantes as\u00ed como tiendas con productos locales y artesanales.<\/p>\n

Amazing Views<\/h2>\n

We continued walking and the giant orange mountains began to appear, as we plunged into a forest full of chestnut trees. After visiting a couple of caves we headed to the famous viewpoint, where we could appreciate the great beauty of this place. We had lunch there and continued the route that would take us back to the starting point.<\/p>\n

Vistas incre\u00edbles<\/strong><\/p>\n

Continuamos caminando y empezaron a aparecer las gigantescas monta\u00f1as naranjas, mientras nos sumerg\u00edamos en un bosque lleno de casta\u00f1os. Luego de visitar un par de cuevas nos dirigimos al famoso mirador, donde pudimos apreciar la gran belleza de este lugar. All\u00ed almorzamos y continuamos la ruta que nos llevar\u00eda de vuelta al punto de partida.<\/p>\n

We did it!<\/h2>\n

After a long and beautiful walk, we managed to climb to the highest point of Las M\u00e9dulas and continued back through the Camino de Invierno to the village of the beginning, where we took the opportunity to buy honey and chestnut cream, artisanal and unique products of the area.<\/p>\n

\u00a1Lo hicimos!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tras un largo y bonito paseo conseguimos subir al punto m\u00e1s alto de Las M\u00e9dulas y continuamos de regreso por el Camino de Invierno hasta el pueblo del inicio, donde aprovechamos para comprar miel y crema de casta\u00f1as, productos artesanales y \u00fanicos de la zona.<\/p>\n
