Ferrol,i already like you! / Ferrol,ya me gustas!

?? Ola! My name is Agnese and I recently started my volunteer work ESC project in Neda (Ferrol). I will be here for the next two months, so I decided to introduce myself a bit and also write down some first impressions.
I’ll start by saying that I’m from Latvia, I live in a small town – Kuldiga! One of the facts worth mentioning – that in Kuldiga is located the widest waterfall in Europe “Ventas rumba”. It is about 100-110 meters wide. Did you know that? (:
Before that, some things about me – I like to be in nature, gardening, hiking and good literature (Currently Haruki Murakami books are my favorite readings.) I like to travel and also local tourism.

So now – about the first impressions of Ferrol and project itself.  In Ferrol you can see a lot of charming corners and hidden spaces. One of the first things I noticed was the unique and specific architecture here – houses with wooden and glass cabins/balconies (mostly white) and I was also surprised to see some really outstanding Art Nouveau buildings, one good example- Casa del Banco Simeon. By far my favorite place here is the Baluarte de san Juan and the view from there to the city and port. I also really want to visit Castillo de San Felipe, that’s on my list for the next few days.

About the project – at the moment I’m just starting to understand a little more what is what, the beginning is a bit difficult for me. But looking at the bright side- so far i have walked a small path of Camino de Ingles, visited the Hostel for pilgrims in Neda, and took a part in a clean up/waste collecting activity in Neda with my team (:

?? ¡Hola! Mi nombre es Agnese y recientemente comencé mi proyecto de voluntariado ESC en Neda (Ferrol). Estaré aquí durante los próximos meses, así que decidí presentarme un poco y también escribir algunas primeras impresiones.
Comenzaré diciendo que soy de Letonia, vivo en un pequeño pueblo: Kuldiga. Uno de los datos a destacar es que en Kuldiga se encuentra la cascada más ancha de Europa “Ventas rumba”. Mide unos 100-110 metros de ancho. ¿Sabía usted que? (:
Antes de eso, algunas cosas sobre mí: me gusta estar en la naturaleza, la jardinería, el senderismo y la buena literatura (Actualmente, los libros de Haruki Murakami son mis lecturas favoritas). Me gusta viajar y también el turismo local.

Entonces, ahora sobre las primeras impresiones de Ferrol y el proyecto en sí. En Ferrol puedes ver un montón de rincones y espacios escondidos con encanto. Una de las primeras cosas que noté fue la arquitectura única y específica aquí: casas con cabañas/balcones hechos de madera y vidrio (en su mayoría blancos) y también me sorprendió ver algunos edificios Art Nouveau realmente sobresalientes, un buen ejemplo: la Casa del Banco Simeon. De lejos, mi lugar favorito aquí es el Baluarte de san Juan y la vista desde allí hacia la ciudad y el puerto. También tengo muchas ganas de visitar el Castillo de San Felipe, eso está en mi lista para los próximos días.

Sobre el proyecto – en este momento estoy empezando a entender un poco más qué es qué, el comienzo es un poco difícil para mí. Pero mirando el lado positivo, hasta ahora he recorrido un pequeño sendero en el Camino de Inglés, he visitado el albergue de peregrinos en Neda y he participado en una actividad de limpieza/recogida de residuos en Neda con mi equipo (:
