Primera semana en Ferrol/ First week in Ferrol

Ayer, 11 de agosto, hizo una semana desde la llegada a Ferrol y ha sido bastante interesante. Ferrol es una pequeña ciudad costera situada al norte de la provincia de La Coruña y en la que se desarrollan actividades marítimas, mediante su puerto pesquero y comercial, astilleros civiles y militares, instalaciones de la Armada o playas turísticas. También es punto de inicio del Camino Inglés.

Durante estos días hemos tenido la oportunidad de conocer la ciudad en profundidad gracias a Malle, nuestra supervisora, y a otros voluntarios de diferentes proyectos que llevan en Ferrol varios meses. Son como una gran familia que nos ha acogido con mucho cariño y nos ha hecho la llegada mucho más fácil. Además de recorrer los lugares emblemáticos de la ciudad, también hemos dado comienzo al proyecto con la visita a las oficinas de turismo y de peregrinos, el recorrido de la etapa del Camino Inglés desde Ferrol a Neda y la recogida de basura en la playa de Caranza.

Aunque han sido unos días de bastantes cambios, adaptaciones y nuevas caras, también nos han llenado de ilusión y ganas de continuar con el proyecto y ver qué nos depararán las siguientes semanas.

Yesterday, August 11, was a week since arriving in Ferrol and it has been quite interesting. Ferrol is a small coastal city located in the north of the province of La Coruña and where maritime activities are developed, through its fishing and commercial port, civil and military shipyards, Navy facilities or tourist beaches. Moreover, it is the initial point of the English Way.

During these days we have had the opportunity to get to know the city in depth thanks to Malle, our supervisor, and other volunteers from different projects who have been in Ferrol for several months. They are like a big family that has welcomed us with great affection and made our arrival much easier. In addition to visiting the emblematic places of the city, we have also started the project with a visit to the tourist and pilgrim offices, the tour of the stage of the English Way from Ferrol to Neda and the collection of garbage on the beach of Caranza.

Although they have been a few days of many changes, adaptations and new faces, they have also filled us with enthusiasm and desire to continue with the project and see what the following weeks will bring.
